I have to admit that I am not a lover of paper cases. It is so difficult to balance the information given with information not recorded, so I keep away from commenting on them.

I will however make a comment on your prescription, simply, and in spite of the resolution of the case as a positive one, that I can see no indication for the medicine prescribed in the repertorisation. Perhaps you would care to explain the rationale for giving Calc Phos?

Thanks for posting the case.

First of all - you seem to have used a mixture of repertories here. I see some rubrics are from Kent,some from Boenninghausen. Since the Kentian approach (including Swedenborgian influence and the concept of constitutional remedy) is very different from the Hahnemann-Boenninghausen approach which is reflected in the Therapeutic Pocketbook, I see mixing from these sources as problematic. Sometimes it's valid to do comparisons, run a case through Boenninghausen, and in a separate desktop, through Kent, or Boger-Boenninghausen, but not to mix.

I would go with the main presenting symptom here - the moisture in the ear. The rubric only has 12 remedies, is certain, it's the main presenting symptom and is a good starting place for the repertorisation. When I add in P&W TPB rubric 560 Coryza stopped, it narrows it down to the following:




The proving from Nitric Acid shows pain in the left ear, also sensation that the tympanum will burst.

Although I wouldn't have taken the thigh symptom as it seemed there wasn't much information there, the proving of Nit-Ac shows issues with the thighs, also specifically with the left thigh.

I wouldn't work with combining Calc and Phos based on the repertorisation.  I've seen similar prescriptions, but feel that even they may work sometimes, the process is unclear, and that makes the prescription uncertain and not clearly reproducible.  Since I've been working with the TPB I use mainly the remedies in that repertory, check the remedies of choice against provings, and rarely use others.  Within the TPB there seem to be several good possibilities, so I would have gone with one of them.  When the proving is solid, the process is reproducible and both core rubrics here are completely certain.
